Who is most likely to be infected?
Nationally, an estimated 3.2 million people are living with chronic hepatitis C and there are approximately 17,000 new cases each year. Most people living with hepatitis C don’t feel ill or know they are infected.
- Of those infected approximately 75% were born during 1945-1965
- Injection drug users are also at high risk. 84% of individuals diagnosed with acute Hepatitis C have injected drugs.
