How do I know if I have Hepatitis C?

The only way to know if you have hepatitis C is to get tested.

Approximately 70 to 80 percent of people with acute Hepatitis C do not have any symptoms.  If symptoms occur, the average time frame is 6 to 7 weeks after exposure.

Symptoms may include:

  • Fever
  • Fatigue
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Abdominal pain
  • Dark urine
  • Clay-colored bowel movements
  • Joint pain
  • Jaundice (yellow color in the skin or eyes)
