PREVENTION NAVIGATOR
The Prevention Navigator engages and works with high-risk individuals and groups to provide HIV/STI testing, navigation services, outreach and prevention education in an effort to prevent new HIV infections.
Major Duties And Responsibilities:
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Screen high-risk persons testing HIV negative for eligibility to participate in Navigation
- Test for HIV, STIs, and pregnancy while conducting short-term pre- and post-counseling
- Conduct outreach and/or testing during non-traditional working hours, up to midnight
- Prepare clients for and provide them with knowledge of their HIV infection
- Conduct intake, including assessing readiness to engage in Navigation
- Negotiate a relevant risk reduction plan and obtain commitment from the client to reduce their HIV risk.
- Screen for behavioral health and social services needs
- Screen for PrEP and nPEP and STI
- Provide treatment adherence counseling to clients prescribed PrEP, nPEP, and remain abreast of national guidelines and local resources.
- Refer clients to facilities that will provide psychosocial support and facilitate desired behavioral change.

- Maintain a flexible work schedule
- Ability to maintain a caseload of up to thirty
- Determines clients’ requirements by completing intake interviews; determining the need for therapeutic medical, psycho-social, and psychiatric evaluations; reviewing therapist evaluations, treatment objectives, and plans.

Experience And Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or a related field required
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in HIV/AIDS education preferred
- Experience working with sexual minorities preferred
- Ability to work with people from diverse background, particularly African-American and/or Latino communities (MSM)
- Certified in HIV/AIDS Prevention Counseling and Testing
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with people from low-income/impoverished communities
- Good oral/written communication and organizational skills are preferred
- Working knowledge of Office 365
- Willingness to work late night hours, up to midnight, in impoverished areas
Clearances Required
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record preferred
- Access to reliable transportation
- PA State Criminal Clearance
- PA Child abuse Clearance
- DHS FBI Clearance
Physical Demands:
This is a sedentary position that requires long periods of being a seated position and working on a computer. This position may require lifting of up to 20 lbs. May be exposed to outside weather conditions.
