Board of Directors

Bebashi Transition to Hope is accepting applications to be a part of our Board of Directors!

We are a multi-purpose health and social services agency with a special interest in serving people in Philadelphia. Our mission is “To provide culturally sensitive health related information, direct services, education, research, and technical assistance to reduce and eliminate HIV/AIDS and other health disparities within the urban community of Philadelphia and vicinity.” We’re also expanding to fight other challenges like hunger and breast cancer.

In continuing our work, we are looking for committed members with a broad range of skills, experience and interests. Members of the board will support the work of Bebashi and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day to day operations are led by Gary J. Bell, Executive Director(ED), the Board-ED relationship is a partnership and the appropriate involvement of Board Members is both critical and expected.

Collectively, the board helps to:

  • Contribute to the implementation of the Bebashi Strategic 3 Year Plan
  • Approve Bebashi’s annual budget, audit reports and meeting all legal and fiduciary responsibilities
  • Serve on committees
  • Work with other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
  • Solicit corporate or individual contributions
  • Engage in outreach for the organization

Board terms/participation

Board Members will serve a three-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for one additional term. Board meetings will be held every other month and committee meetings will be held in coordination with full board meetings.

We seek a mix of cultural, racial, gender, and professional diversity for the board. Interested candidates should submit a short letter of interest (250 words or less) stating why they would like to serve on the Bebashi board, including any relevant biographical information to our Karen Downer, Vice President of Board of Directors via email – karend@bebashi.org

This is an unpaid, volunteer position.
