Bebashi’s Ribbon-Cutting Welcomes Community to New Home

On March 27th, the Bebashi community gathered for the long-anticipated ribbon-cutting of its new location at 4101 Woodland Ave, in University City, Philadelphia. The over 100 guests in attendance included community partners, representatives from fellow Philadelphia non-profit organizations, politicians, and other crucial members of the Bebashi community.

Among the distinguished speakers was Pennsylvania State Senator Anthony Hardy Williams, who reflected on Bebashi’s impact over the years. “When Bebashi came onto the scene, it did more than just serve people—it educated them, recognized their dignity and humanity, and affirmed their existence. It truly changed the trajectory of this city. To walk in here today and see the transformation—not just in the organization, but in this new location—is remarkable. I cannot tell you how grateful we are—as a city, as a state, as a nation, and as people who have been marginalized—for your extraordinary leadership and vision.”

Just before the ribbon-cutting, Bebashi President and CEO Sebrina Tate spoke movingly of the organization’s long journey to this day, and the promising future that the new location will provide to our clients. She also announced the dedication of Bebashi’s new Dr. Rashidah Abdul-Khabeer Wellness Center, named in honor of the organization’s visionary founder. This new center will expand Bebashi’s ability to provide critical health services to the community, ensuring that those in need continue to receive compassionate, high-quality care.

As the ribbon fell and applause filled the room, it was clear that this was more than just a celebration of a new space—it was a reaffirmation of Bebashi’s enduring mission. With this new home, Bebashi is ready to continue breaking down barriers to care, empowering communities, and making a lasting impact for years to come.
