HEZ Community Outreach Specialist


The HEZ Community Outreach Specialist will be a member of the Health Enterprise Zone (HEZ) Project team and will conduct community outreach, participate in research on food insecurity, and assist with operating Bebashi’s school-based and community pantries. The HEZ Community Outreach Specialist must have a deep desire to work with people, as their work can be both rewarding and demanding; this is a full-time position.

HEZ Community Outreach Specialists are highly compassionate individuals who have good communication and interpersonal skills. It is crucial to their role that they can build trust and form impactful relationships with community residents and service providers. They may also possess the first-hand experience to connect more deeply with community residents and their families.

HEZ Community Outreach Specialists love working with people and are interested in helping them access services that will improve the lives of individuals and /or their families.

  • Teamwork – HEZ Community Outreach Specialists will be part of a team and need to take independent action and work well with others.
  • Interpersonal skills– Clearly communicating with and relating to people from various backgrounds is essential for Bebashi’s HEZ Community Outreach Specialists.
  • Leadership skills – Great organizational and motivational leadership is necessary for HEZ Community Outreach Specialists
  • Writing skills – HEZ Community Outreach Specialists will be responsible for writing referrals and reporting data associated with their work.
  • Time management – HEZ Community Outreach Specialists need strong time management skills to work under pressure successfully.



Bebashi is seeking outgoing, engaging, and community-minded candidates for the role of HEZ Community Outreach Specialist. Ideal applicants will meet the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply
  • Must be able to pass FBI, PA State,  Child Abuse clearance background checks, and Social media background checks will also be done.
  • Be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Have an interest in participating in team research on food insecurity and related topics.
  • Comfortable with public speaking.
  • Be able to travel to local communities within the North and Northwest Philadelphia area
  • Possess a valid driver’s license for at least three years with a good driving record
  • Be able to lift at least 30 pounds.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule.
  • Have a positive attitude.

Employment will be full-time.   Pay will begin at $15.00 per hour.
