Director of Development and Communications

Bebashi -Transition to Hope is a multi-purpose health and social services agency. We provide culturally sensitive health-related information, direct services, education, research, and technical assistance to reduce and eliminate HIV/AIDS as well as other health disparities, such as breast cancer and hunger, within the urban community of Philadelphia and vicinity.

Bebashi – Transition to Hope is seeking an experienced and self-motivated development Director of Development and Communications.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting  Executive Director (ED) in setting annual fundraising and marketing goals.
  • Developing and executing an annual fundraising plan.
  • Developing and maintaining ongoing relationships with major donors.
  • Securing financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations.
  • Managing the implementation of fund raising software and ensuring accurate data entry and gift processing.
  • Developing and tracking proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising.
  • Overseeing the preparation and implementation of regular donor mail solicitation campaigns.
  • Creating and executing a strategy for increasing a sustained base of annual individual donors.
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of fundraising events.
  • Overseeing the preparation and implementation of regular donor mail solicitation campaigns.
  • Assisting with Board development and management.
  • Managing the Communications Specialist and overseeing the development of communications materials.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or nonprofit management from an accredited 4-year institution, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five years of Development experience.
  • Certificate in fundraising management preferred.
  • Knowledge of fundraising management.
  • Experience with individual and corporate giving.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising software.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation affecting charities.
  • Knowledge of special events planning and management
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of various potential public/private funding sources.
  • Knowledge of and experience in most general computer office operating systems including, but not limited to, Word, WordPerfect, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and/or Lotus.
  • Demonstrated empathy for low-income people.
  • Ability to work independently

Compensation: $60,000 – $75,000 per year

Bebashi is an essential health agency permitted to remain open during this public health crisis.
