BEBASHI Celebrates 20th Birthday with a Pool Party at The Raven Resort!

Come help BEBASHI - the country's oldest African American AIDS service organization -celebrate their 20th birthday on Thursday August 4th from 10am – 6pm (Raindate: August 11th) at The Raven Resort in New Hope, PA.

Pool admission will be discounted from $10 to $5 and one half of the proceeds will go back to support BEBASHI. In addition, 25% of sales from the signature Raven Wear will be donated, and "The Vaginally Challenged Brittany Lynn" (aka Ian Morrison) will provide entertainment and host several exciting contests including a Mr. and Mrs. BEBASHI competition!

The Raven Resort was established in 1979 and over the last 25 years, this gay bar, first class restaurant, small inn and pool has managed to attract people from all over the world as it built lasting traditions and a loyal following. Proud owners, Rand Skolnick and Terrence Merck, make certain that the traditions live on and they are strongly committed to always making sure that The Raven Resort keeps up with the finest in hospitality.

BEBASHI was founded in 1985, due to the alarming increase of HIV/AIDS in the African American community of Philadelphia. We are the first minority based AIDS service organization in the United States, commemorating 20 years of service in 2005! Our original efforts focused on street outreach to areas of the community most in need of prevention information and the least likely to receive it. Today, we continue to conduct street outreach, but have expanded to include a comprehensive prevention program, direct care services, and developed culturally-appropriate models of sexual health education, with particular regard for minority men, women, adolescents, and sexual minorities, all of which have been models for similar programs throughout the nation. We provide a continuum of care from outreach and education to HIV, STD, and pregnancy counseling and testing, to case management and support groups. All services of BEBASHI are offered free of charge. Our mission is to provide culturally sensitive health related information, direct service, research, and technical assistance to the urban community.
